Service dogs are dogs that are extensively trained to react and provide bio-social and intrusive support for U.S. veterans and sometimes other individuals that are in need for continued and susbtantial support with triggerabilty due from symptom presentations of PTSD. The bio-social connection that is often in need of continued management, self-care and treatment in individuals with severe or complex-posttrauamtic stress disorder can benefit from having a service dog or service animal specifically trained for this purpose.
